A life settlement is essentially a secondary market for life insurance policies. If you know someone age 65 or older considering letting a life insurance policy lapse or surrendering it for the cash value, they should consider a life settlement. By keeping the policy in force and selling their rights and interests in the policy to a third party (banks, insurance companies and Wall Street investors are the typical investors), we may be able to help the policy owner get 10%-30% or more than the cash value for the policy. Convertible term policies that have no cash surrender value are a particularly attractive opportunity.
